Still Life Portrait

This painting led the charge toward my MFA exhibition, a piece that was done in reckless abandon trying to break away from the tedious, tight, static, calculated collage paintings created in the previous weeks. This painting was made on the canvas, allowing paint to lead the way while letting go of a prescriptive outcome. It was more satisfying to create the painting than it had been to assemble the collage paintings, and I guess time will tell on the quality of the outcome of each process.
